A recent study performed by doctors in France reveals that young children are susceptible to airborne triggers that can cause allergies.
Researchers at Descartes University in France found that 19 percent of toddlers who were exhibiting cold-like symptoms had higher concentrations of eosinophils, which are inflammatory white blood cells associated with allergic reactions, according to CafeMom.com.
The website states that one of the most prevalent allergy offenders is dust, but frequent vacuuming can help eliminate the problem-causing particles. Miele Vacuum Cleaners are among the cleanest running vacuums available, equipped with an air-tight system that works to trap dust.
Miele's dustbags contain nine layers of electrostatically charged material and spring-loaded collars, which prevent dust particles from escaping back into the air.
This product can stand the test of time, as well. The vacuums are designed and tested to last 20 years, and they come with a seven-year motor warranty. The product's durable plastic exterior is crafted from the same material used in sports helmets that help prevent brain injuries.

Fall is synonymous with several annual occasions, two of them being the start of football season and cooling temperatures. Both events share a similar trait: without a solid game plan, things can get sloppy.
On the gridiron, the quarterback is perhaps the most valuable position on the field, requiring adequate protection in order to remain productive. His offensive line helps determine the amount of time he goes untouched in the pocket.
As temperatures begin to plummet, your home is perhaps your most valuable player in the fall and winter months. Much like the quarterback in football, your gutters are a crucial part of your home's sustainability.

Christmas and New York City go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Some of the world's most famous holiday events, such as the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Macy's Parade and the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center, take place every year in Manhattan. Some of the more memorable yuletide films – Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, Scrooged – are set in the Big Apple.
While millions of Americans will celebrate Christmas in the suburbs, the Department 56 Christmas in the City series allows you to bring the holiday hustle and bustle into your home – no matter where you live. This series is modeled after the 1930, 1940 New York City scene, including famous structures such as the Flatiron Building.
The series also offers figures that exemplify the charm of city sidewalks during the holidays, including a jazz ensemble, a street vendor and a newspaper stand. Christmas in the City is an ideal gift to give to a loved one who loves New York, or perhaps to a family member who lived in Manhattan in the '30s or '40s.

Your pet may be a beloved member of your family, but that doesn't always quell your frustration when your dog or cat tracks mud and dirt all over your house. Trying to keep your carpet clean can become a daily chore when your pet is transferring filth from outside.
The Hindustan Times recently offered tips to pet-owners who are working to protect their carpets and rugs. The news provider suggests keeping your pets' nails short and smooth because longer and sharper nails can damage threads. Also, any stain or soil on your carpet should be tended to as soon as possible with a mixture of water and liquid detergent. The longer the stain stays, the harder it is to remove.
"Another intelligent idea would be to place door mats at the entrance," according to the news source. "This would enable the pet to maybe leave the outside dirt stuck in its feet on the door mat instead of getting it all the way in onto the carpet."
Cape Cod Doormats are durable and stylish. Available in 29 different colors, these mats are offered in a variety of sizes to fit your patio or porch. They are equipped with polypropylene cordage and contain the stubborn fibers you can feel in rope. Cape Cod Doormats are washable, colorfast and resistant to mildew.

Whether you're living in sunny Florida or frigid Michigan this winter, the Christmas season invokes a similar image for many Americans: snow falling from the sky, elves crafting toys and saddled reindeer bracing for Santa Clause's epic flight.
The North Pole is synonymous with Christmas. Santa's hometown is viewed as a place rife with joy, as ornaments hang from every nook and laughter emanates from each workshop. You don't have to be a child to marvel in the magic that the North Pole represents.
The Department 56 North Pole series was born 20 years ago, starting with three buildings: Santa's Workshop, Elf Bunkhouse and Reindeer Barn. It has since flourished into a vast collection, including a candy-cane house, a snowboard shop and a karaoke club.
The ceramic figurines show that elves have more hobbies than just making toys. One piece features an elf delivering pizza, while another displays two of Santa's helpers ice fishing.
For those looking to invite the Christmas spirit into their homes this holiday season, the Department 56 North Pole collection is a great start.

Columbus Day is just around the corner and, for many parents, the holiday marks a homecoming weekend of sorts.
Considering that Columbus Day is the first federal holiday of the fall, millions of college students may be making their first trek home of the semester, and with that visit can come a whole lot of dirty laundry. For many young adults, washing loads of laundry at home can be cost-efficient and, in some cases, a way to get mom or dad to lend a hand.
According to the Keene Equinox, officials at a New Hampshire-based laundry service said that students are apt to let their laundry pile up because of their busy schedules.
"It's difficult for students who have classes all day long, have extra-curriculars, study, do homework," Mike Vitone, a co-owner of the laundry service, told the news source. "The only time they are able to do laundry is at night, and everybody's doing laundry at night."
Parents who are preparing for an influx of dirty laundry may consider Brabantia laundry care products, which are backed by a manufacturer guarantee for superior quality. Brabantia offers a variety of ironing boards to accommodate your height and stylistic preference.

The traditional grilling season might be over for many Americans, but Big Green Egg wants to keep the spirit alive.
The company is hosting its 13th annual Eggtoberfest in a few weeks, inviting grill owners from across the country to celebrate their shared enthusiasm for cooking. The first event drew about 100 guests and has since swelled to an average crowd of over 1,400 EGGheads.
This year's festivities will take place on October 15 and 16 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga. The large venue is a far cry from the first event, which was held at an American Legion hall. Eggtober Fest caters to anyone who loves to grill, whether you own a Green Egg product or not.
"This family-oriented event also provides a good opportunity for someone thinking about buying an EGG to learn all about it and see firsthand the versatility of the intriguing ceramic cooker and hear about their experiences from current owners," reads a statement on the company's website.
Big Green Egg will provide more than 200 grills for this year's event, and visitors are encouraged to concoct their specialties. In the past, delectable offerings have included moose kabobs from Maine and fresh salmon from Alaska.
