As families across the nation continue to suffer due to high unemployment rates, gas prices and other effects of the economic downturn, one grocery chain has opted to freeze prices on 40 essential items.
The Wegmans grocery chain says that it will keep prices as is on many items that families buy each week, such as orange juice, cereal, yogurt, coffee and deli items. The prices will remain flat for the remainder of 2011.
"Such things as bananas, pasta, frozen vegetables and laundry detergent are in most shopping carts every week. They are products that families can't do without, so what they pay for these items really matters," Wegmans Food Markets President Colleen Wegman told the Times Leader newspaper.
Another way to get the most for your money at the supermarket is to ensure foods stay fresh. Using a Brabantia bread bin or food storage container is an ideal way to store items such as bread, cookies, crackers, baked goods and snack items.
Brabantia bread boxes are available in white, black and stainless steel so they will fit right in with any decor. In addition, they have a large capacity and keep your food and bread fresher for longer.
These items are available in roll-top and flat-top models. The roll-top designs are equipped with plastic stops inside of the bins to dampen noise when opened and closed quickly.

Creating a healthy home environment is becoming a hot trend among designers and homeowners.
"Many homes new and old have unseen contaminants that can negatively affect the health of a home," said Nelson Fabian, executive director and CEO of the National Environmental Health Association. "Asthma, cancer and a variety of other health conditions can result from contaminants in the home."
One way to keep contaminants at a minimum is to use a Miele vacuum cleaner.
"Miele designs every appliance we make with a healthy home in mind," says Miele's Paul McCormack.
A unique combination of an AirClean filter bag, certified HEPA filter and sealed system design makes Miele vacuums 99.99 percent effective in capturing lung-damaging particles. In fact, according to recent independent tests, there's no other vacuum on the planet that removes dust, dirt and allergens as efficiently as a Miele canister or upright.
These products are also known for powerful performance and brilliant design details that set the standard for floor care and cleaning.
Miele vacuums feature superior suctioning and make vacuuming easier through patented new technologies and features such as longer cords, automatic flooring sensors, powerful Vortex Motor Systems and silence settings.
In addition, the bags used in these products compress dirt and dust much more efficiently than traditional bagging sweepers, which means you won't run through bags as often.

The winter season is prime time for upper respiratory infections such as sore throats, ear infections, sinus infections, colds and bronchitis. While some of these ailments can be successfully treated with antibiotics, others cannot.
Doctors often tell patients that viral infections, such as the common cold, need to run their course. The bad news for those looking for relief from symptoms is that a cold can last up to two weeks.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, plenty of rest, adequate fluids and over-the-counter pain relievers can help those suffering from upper respiratory infections feel better.
You may also find relief by using a clean humidifier and by abstaining from smoking or subjecting yourself to second-hand smoke and other environmental pollutants.
The Venta-Airwasher is a two-in-one product that humidifies and purifies at the same time to make air cleaner and more comfortable.
These products utilize cold evaporation, which is recognized as the best way to clean and humidify the environment.
Venta-Airwashers use water rather than filter pads to humidify and purify at the same time. This process eliminates millions of particles in the environment, leaving homes with fresh, clean, humidified air.
And, because there are no filters to clean or replace, maintenance is simple.

Gel Pro Mats are manufactured from a shock absorbing gel, which helps displace the body's weight evenly over the entire foot. This effectively reduces the strain associated with prolonged stationary standing.
These mats are ideal for anyone who spends a lot of time on his or her feet, and can be especially helpful for individuals who suffer from back pain, arthritis or joint pain in their ankles or knees.
