Brighten Up Your Windows Without Burning Down Your House

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

LED window candlesBattery operated LED window candles are quickly replacing traditional window candles for many reasons. Whether you are looking for candles to add a cozy touch to your home or to spruce up your windows for the holidays, battery operated LED window candles may be the answer you have been looking for.

First, there is no fire involved with LED candles. Just flick the switch and walk away without having to worry about any danger or damage. Curtains may flow into the flame, a cat could knock it over while walking on the window sill, or a child could burn themselves in an instant. The LED flame looks natural as it flickers and glows, but it eliminates any need for concern.

Second, there are no cords with battery operated LED window candles. The cord may not be nearly the hazard that a real flame is, but it does limit where you can place the candles. If you’re lucky, you’d have an outlet right by the window, but then you still have to worry about how to prevent the cord from making the window sill appear cluttered. The battery allows the candle to stand alone exactly how a traditional candle would.

Finally, battery operated LED window candles are fashionable. They come in a wide range of styles, sizes, and colors so they match the decor of your home even when they are not turned on. When they are lit, they create a soft glow that warms the atmosphere of the room. They are also bright enough to be seen from outside if you are looking to symbolize the holidays or another day of remembrance.

Don’t go without candles because you can’t trust the cat or because you worry about your child’s safety. Battery operated LED window candles have given you another option that is safe without having to sacrifice the ambiance you are looking for.

LED Window Candles: A Sure-Fire Bet

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

As the fall festival and holiday season approaches it is only a matter of time before local news stations begin broadcasting reports of yet another number of homes and apartment buildings to be reduced to nothing more than smoking mounds of cinders. The culprit: the dreaded unattended burning candle. This, however, can easily join the antiquated traditions of bobbing for apples and pushing a hoop with a stick in the days of yore by embracing the simple and very affordable technology of modern LED window candles. Readily available at retail hobby and housewares stores these inexpensive and practical devices now come in all shapes, colors and sizes ranging from small glowing tea lights to more grand affairs with real wax bodies and realistic flickering lights.

LED window candles are the perfect way to add that special ambiance that only candlelight can bring, but without the dangers and sometimes prohibitive safety precautions that must be met when dealing with an open flame. Another bonus offered by using LED window candles is the simple convenience of avoiding the hassle of having to blow out every candle at the end of the night or moving to another room, or of having to remove melted wax from holders or worse yet, furniture. An added bonus to using LED window candles is the fact that there is something else they do not burn: money. Since LED window candles do not physically burn, they can never burn out — most run on readily available and easily affordable watch batteries, and due to the fact that they employ LED technology the energy draw on batteries is so minute that changing batteries should not be a common occurrence.

With easy availability, low cost, and absolutely none of the underlying dangers associated with open flames, long-lasting LED window candles are a sure-fire bet.

Benefits For Using Battery Operated LED Candles

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Do you love the special look and cozy atmosphere which candles can give to your home, but do not like the hassles and dangers of lighting open flames? Do you have small children or playful pets who make using traditional candles impossible? If so, consider the many benefits of battery operated LED candles!

- Are you a forgetful person? Not a problem. It is extremely dangerous to leave candles burning unattended for long periods of time. It can be easy to forget you have lit a candle and left it burning! However, battery operated LED candles can be left alone without creating a fire hazard.

- Battery operated LED candles can be placed in small spaces which are too dangerous for traditional candles. If you have large bookshelves, cozy reading nooks or cute shelves for keepsakes and decorations, you are probably tempted to use candles to create great ambient lighting. It is dangerous to light candles in these types of enclosed areas, but battery operated LED candles provide the perfect solution for adding soft light to any location.

- Another great benefit of this non-traditional candle is its ability to look new and fresh for as long as you use it. Wax candles melt and droop after long periods of use, which can be quite unattractive. With battery operated LED candles, you never need to worry about replacements. They look great and last forever – all they need is new batteries from time to time.

- Do not forget about the air quality and cleanliness benefits of non-traditional LED candles! Traditional candles create smoke, which can irritate your lungs and leave a residue on your furniture, carpet and ceiling. If you are a person who loves burning candles for long periods of times, but suffers from allergies or other breathing problems, you probably do not want to introduce another potential irritant into your home. Of course, you do not want an expensive cleaning bill either. No matter what your reason for using battery operated LED candles, you can always be sure they have many great benefits and are a wonderful addition to your home decor!

The Safety and Value of LED Window Candles

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

LED window candlesEveryone loves the soft light and atmosphere that candles create, especially when displayed in the windows at Christmas time. Traditional candles are a potential fire hazard, and ones that depend on traditional bulbs suffer from burn outs and utilize a lot of energy. This problem is solved when you use LED window candles.

Christmas is a popular time of year to have candle light in the windows, especially when snow is on the ground. LED window candles are the perfect choice, offering both energy efficiency and durability for the life of the candle. LED bulbs give off a great deal of light, but use less energy than traditional bulbs. This helps to reduce your utility costs from their use. They also don’t burn out after a short time as traditional bulbs use. LED’s offer you years of bright, consistent use.

They are also safe to use in your home. Though they give off as much or more light as traditional bulbs, they don’t heat up in the same way. This means that you can use them with peace of mind and not have to worry about a potential fire. This makes them safe to use around your family, especially if you have young children.

LED window candles come in a variety of sizes and styles, whether you are looking for tea candles or a more traditional tapered style. Some feature a suction cup on the bottom, which helps to secure them to the window ledge. They can illuminate the window in your home, creating a traditional feel to the holiday season. This makes LED window candles a smart investment for decorating your dwelling.

led-window-candleWith the winter holidays close at hand, you should be on the look out for the best decoration choices. Some prefer the understated look, with just a few lights that make people turn their heads as they drive by. Other’s enjoy the idea of the most light possible, turning their home into a beacon of light. Whether you are the latter or the former, there is an argument to be made that you should look into LED window candles. They are a timeless and beautifully simple way of showing your love of the season and the holidays that surround it.

What is wonderful about LED window candles is that they are a timeless and classic motif to the holidays. They remind us of carolers walking door to door and singing our favorite perennial tunes. They come with the lights in the window to guide the weary traveler home. Thankfully, technology has made that unnecessary, but with LED window candles, you can show that you remember some of the reasons we put candles in the window in the first place.

Some traditionalists may think that putting real candles in all of their windows might be the way to go, but the safety hazards of that are so immense, that using the more simple and easy to maintain LED window candles is going to make whatever room they are featured in shine. Whether it is in the same window as your Christmas tree or every window on the second floor, LED window candles bring a sense of warmth to a house and a neighborhood during the season.

LED Window Candles Are The Best Window Candle Option for Christmas Time!

Friday, December 3rd, 2010

A few years ago, traditional electric window candles were the most popular option for displaying a candle light from your windows.  Fast forward to the 2010 Christmas season and LED window candles are taking the market by storm.

The best part about LED anything is it uses significantly less energy than traditional incandescent light bulbs.  This has allowed LED window candles to be powered by batteries without draining the batteries of their power every couple of days!   Depending on which style of LED window candle you purchase one set of batteries will power the candles for 20-70 days, 12 hours a day!  This is a far cry from traditional battery operated candles that only operate for approximately 24-48 hours on one set of batteries.

Now that LED Window Candles have been on the market for a couple of years, they are significantly improving the light that the candles emit.  In the past Carlon’s LED window candles had a very yellowish light.  This year their newly redesigned candles features a warm white light that is much more pleasing.  In addition, Carlon improved the look of the base of their candle.  The finished product for this year is a very refined LED window candle that will not disappoint to many consumers.

As I mentioned above the poor battery life of traditional battery operated candles dictated that electric candles were the only realistic option for most people.  The problem with electric candles is finding an outlet close enough for each window you wish to put an electric candle in.  This is especially a problem with older homes that don’t have as many electrical outlets.  Plus, the heat generated by electric candles pose fire risks if you have drapes hanging in the windows.  LED window candles eliminate all these restrictions.

So, you probably are wondering why would anyone not switch to a LED window candle.  Well, for one, they cost 2-3 times as much as traditional electric candles.  Secondly, most LED window candles only flicker, they don’t offer a traditional steady burning function.  Lastly, LED window candles on average emit less lumens (brightness) than traditional electric candles.

The good part about all the negatives of LED window candles is they will most likely all be negated or significantly reduced over the next couple of years.  As demand for LED products increases, costs will go down allowing more favorable retail pricing.  As far as the flickering only option and decreased lumen output; continued research and development will reduce the disparity between the traditional incandescent lighting and LED lighting.

So, let’s review the positives and negatives of LED window candles at this juncture in their evolution.

Positives of LED Window Candles

- No electrical outlet needed (battery operated)

- Batteries last for 20-70 days, 12 hours a day (extremely energy efficient)

- Doesn’t get hot to the touch (not a fire hazard!)

Negatives of LED Window Candles

- Cost more (The cost barrier will narrow over time)

- LED candles only flicker, don’t emit as many lumens (lighting technology will improve on these temporary negatives)

Recommendation

The positives of LED window candles have proved to be enough for many customers to switch from traditional incandescent electric window candles in past years.  Now that Carlon, a leading producer of LED window candles, has improved the style and light emitted from their candles for the 2010 season it’s a no brainer.  Now you can get a great looking LED window candle that runs on batteries, so you don’t have to deal with a bunch of cords running all over your house!
