Bona boasts over 90 years of floor maintenance history

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Bona boasts over 90 years of floor maintenance historyThe Bona brand has been around since 1894, when the 26-year-old Wilhelm Edner opened a grocery store in Sweden that specialized in floor wax, which was a new innovation at the time, according to Bona.com.

Five years later, floor polish, mop oil, dry floor cleaner and other products were added to the list. These same traditions have been held and improved upon time and time again, and Bona hardwood floor cleaning products have been a staple for professional cleaners since 1919.

In recent years, this family-owned company has taken significant steps to give back to communities around the world. It was the first manufacturer in the industry to create a cleaning line that has been certified by GreenGuard in regards to indoor air quality.

This means that Bona hardwood cleaning products are not only easy on floors, but they are also likely to emit fewer fumes than other brands.

The water-based cleaner is less harmful to the surrounding environment than most others, which have harsh chemicals that can degrade the integrity of a hardwood floor and become more toxic.

If you want an effective, environmentally-friendly product that will guarantee a long life for hardwood floors, you may want to consider Bona cleaning products. ADNFCR-3390-ID-19933297-ADNFCR

Maintaining hardwood floors with BonaKemi cleaning products

Maintaining hardwood floors with BonaKemi cleaning productsMany homeowners with hardwood floors may take pride in the natural warmth and glossy, refined appearance of their wooden planks, but they also know that keeping a hardwood floor shining and unscuffed can take serious effort.

ShelterPop.com recommends several basic steps to keeping these surfaces in pristine shape. First, families should try to avoid walking over the floor with shoes, particularly cleats or stilettos, and pets with sharp claws should be kept in carpeted areas, so they don’t harm the wood finish.

Christopher Davis, of the Wood Floor Covering Association, suggests that homeowners extend the life of their hardwood floors by keeping indoor temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees.

Intense sunlight can also bleach or dry out floors, so it’s best to keep the shades drawn on bright days, according to the news source.

When it comes to cleaning hardwood floors, Bona hardwood floor cleaning products can be ideal. These water-based solutions have all the strength of a chemical cleaner, but none of the negative side effects, which can result in a cracked and withered surface.

If a floor has become dry or lost its sheen, Bona Hardwood Floor Refresher can restore its luster and act as a much more affordable alternative to having your hardwood surfaces refinished. ADNFCR-3390-ID-19929849-ADNFCR

Cleaning up after kids with Bona hardwood floor careIf a household is full of lively kids, it’s more than likely that their numbers will multiply during the summer months, when children are out of school and having friends over. Feeding a group of kids can be a hassle, but there are easy, affordable ways to do it. It may also help you save time if you devise efficient ways to clean hardwood kitchens and living rooms afterward.

Helium.com recommends that one kid-friendly food is the mini-sandwich. These are easily made by making a real sandwich and cutting it four ways.

Another favorite food for the young is a bagel with cream cheese, according to the news source. Lastly, fruit is a good way to make sure that the kids have something healthy to eat. Apple slices or baby carrots may be the easiest and most affordable way to feed them.

Whatever way you choose to feed the company, there’s sure to be crumbs, condiments and scuff marks on the floor afterward. There’s no need to panic – Bona hardwood floor care products are especially made for these moments, and will refresh surfaces so that they look as good as new.

They are also water-based, which is easier on the floor, and use less liquid to clean, so kids aren’t as likely to slip when they’re running through a recently cleaned area. ADNFCR-3390-ID-19902090-ADNFCR

Bona floor cleaner for kitchens and front halls

Bona floor cleaner for kitchens and front hallsHardwood floors are a beautiful feature of any home, but they can also require a lot of maintenance when it comes to making sure that their surface is sparkling.

That shine can be especially difficult to retain in kitchens, where water, spills and stains can be common and family members can scuff the floors as they travel back and forth. Other high-trafficked areas like front halls can also present a problem if a house has frequent guests or active children who drag sports equipment across the floor.

Bona hardwood floor care products are specially formulated to erase these marks without damaging the floors in the process. This water-based cleaner can effectively erase everything from a red wine spill to footprints to the black smudge left by a hockey stick.

The reason that Bona is so useful for areas that have a lot of people coming and going is that it uses much less water than normal cleaner products. There’s no risk of leaving a hazardous puddle for family members to slip and slide and, in cleaning up spills, you won’t be leaving more water left behind.

Bona’s gentle solution is also sustainable – it includes no chemicals that may be harmful to your home or the environment. ADNFCR-3390-ID-19890886-ADNFCR

July 4th essentials: BonaKemi hardwood floor cleanerAn active house can mean a lot of things during the summer months, especially during holiday weekends. Games out in the yard like frisbee, badminton or soccer, can bring dirt or mud back through the rooms that you’re trying to keep clean for company.

Some of the hardest-to-clean areas in a house are often the ones with unprotected hardwood floors. These can quickly look dull from so many footprints, especially after an event like a Fourth of July party. We offer a complete selection of Bona products, all of which are meant to help hardwood floors become glossy and gleaming. Other hardwood floor cleaners can actually dry out wood surfaces, but Bona’s water-based sprays are friendly to the gentle on floors.

If your floor is older, you may want to look into Bona Hardwood Floor Polish High, which is specially formulated to prevent well-worn floors from becoming dull.

Bona Hardwood Floor Finish is another useful product if youd like your planks to resemble refinished floors, but don’t have the time or extra funds. One bottle of this finish can cover 450-500 square feet. ADNFCR-3390-ID-19872483-ADNFCR

Bring wood floors back to life with BonaKemi

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Bring wood floors back to life with BonaKemiSummer means a lot of outdoor activity. If you’re adventurous, or have pets or children, that also means mud and footprints. This kind of residue can smudge and dull all your hardwood surfaces.

If you’ve noticed a recent decline in the sheen of your hardwood floors, you might be tempted to break out your go-to cleaning products. However, many popular brands use chemical formulas that may actually strip the finish from the floors.

Rather than harm the surface of your floors, Bona’s water-based cleaner will rejuvenate their glossy shine. It’s just as powerful as other, more acidic formulas, but without the consequences.

To make floors even shinier, try adding Bona’s Hardwood Refresher or Floor Polish to the mix.

The most effective way to use Bona is to buy our starter package. This includes a mop, a spray bottle and a microfiber pad. A spray cartridge can be fitted to the mop so you can easily slide it across the floor to clean any surface with the Bona formula.

Another plus is that bona cleaning products are friendly to your floor and to the environment. ADNFCR-3390-ID-19852816-ADNFCR

Using Bona to Clean Your Hardwood Floors

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Hardwood floors are all the rage these days. Everyone is putting them in or refinishing them. The question is, “How do you keep them looking good?” The answer, use Bona. At Hard to Find Items we carry a full line of Bonakemi products, so you can properly clean your hardwood floors.

Can bona be used on all hardwood floors?

No, Bona can’t be used on waxed floors. It can only be used on polyurethane or manufacture finished flooring. To test your floors, simply pour a little water out on top of your floor. Wait about 30 minutes to an hour. If the water is still beaded on top of the floor, you can use Bona. If the water has started to soak into your floor, then you have waxed floors. Only use Bona if your floors have a polyurethane or manufacture finished floor.

What Makes Bona better to use than other cleaners on hardwood floors?

Bona utilizes a water-based cleaner that is very mild on your hardwood floors, but still has the power to clean the dirt off your floors. It’s not good to use stronger cleaners like Mr. Clean, or Lysol on hardwood floors. The combination of the strength of the cleaner and the excessive amount of water used will ruin your hardwood floors. By using too much water, eventually some of that water will leach into your floors causing them to start to crack and turn blackish.

When you use bona you hardly use any water. To get started cleaning with Bona, we recommend you buy their starter package.

I use Bona and it cleans the dirt off my floor, but what can I do to restore the luster to my floors?

Eventually all hardwood floors need to be sanded and refinished, but in-between refinishing your Hardwood floors, Bona’s Hardwood Refresher or Bona’s Hardwood Floor Polish gives you the ability to restore the luster to your floors with one simple application.

Are there any tips to using Bona?

Yes, at Hard to Find Items we are experts on all the products we sell, because we have first hand experience using almost every one of our products we sell. Before you start to spray your floors with Bona’s Hardwood Floor Cleaner, take your applicator pad off the mop and rinse it under your sink and ring it out as dry as you can. This will leave you with a damp mop head, which will allow you to move your mop head across the top of your hardwood floors without it sticking to your floor because it’s too dry. Also it keeps you from using a lot of bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner just to get your mop head to slide around.

Many people have broken their mop head where it connects to the handle overtime partially due to the fact that they were putting excessive pressure on the connection because they didn’t dampen the mop head, so make sure to dampen your mop head!
